The Swine Creek Nature Preserve is an Amish farm-turned-park located at 16004 Hayes Rd, Middlefield, OH 44062, open for roughly 20 years. The park maintains many original structures, such as the stone barn holding the worm composting bins and the horse-drawn wagon transporting straw bales for the cows. The park is run by the Geauga Park District, which collects fees for access to the park. The park is not limited to the Amish community and is open to the public for a fee.
Swine Creek Reservation is a beautiful, clean, and safe park with multiple recreational activities for people of all ages. It is located 4.1 miles from Middlefield, OH. The park has seven pavilions for your use, and there are numerous playgrounds for children of all ages, in addition to horseshoes, sand volleyball courts, tetherball, and table tennis. You can rent the pavilions from the Geauga Park District. Pavilions are available for rental from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, and you can rent the shelter between April and November.
The park has 11 miles of walking, hiking, running, and cycling trails. Geauga Park District offers a beginner and an intermediate mountain bike skills course and a cross country ski course at Swine Creek Reservation. The trails are ideal for running and hiking, and you can use them even if you are not on a bike. You can use the intermediate trail to get a feel for mountain biking.
Several gardens are throughout the park, including a historic, restored African-American community playground (open for rent only on weekends) and a heated oak-shaded playground. The playground is near a tennis court, making it perfect for running children. Swine Creek also has some disc golf, a horseshoe pit, volleyball courts, and traditional playgrounds. Swine Creek Reservation also has several hiking trails, allowing various scenic experiences. Swine Creek is located just one hour west of Akron, Ohio.
